about
Who…
Hi, I’m Giorgos Keramidas, an all-around Unix hacker & advocate.
Where
I was born in Athens, Greece, in 1976. I’ve lived in a number of places since, both around Greece and abroad. I currently live in Zürich, Switzerland.
What
My work as a programmer has brought me in contact with various sorts of systems, finally crystalizing in a deep preference of Unix & Unix-like systems. My focus has revolved one way or another around software engineering, release management, capacity planning and all sorts of Unix software. I currently work as a programmer with a team of very interesting and knowledgeable folks; a very enjoyable sort of work too, since I get the chance to hack at programs all day long :-)
In my spare time, I work with the wonderful team of FreeBSD, doing all sorts of amusing and very cool stuff with my favorite operating system. I am part of the documentation team of FreeBSD, and a part of the current Core team, and I also try to keep up with some of the exciting networking stuff that gets committed to the main FreeBSD source tree.
After working for a while with CVS, Subversion and Perforce (at a previous job and by using the Perforce server of the FreeBSD cluster), I have started growing a moderate interest in Source Code Management systems. Mercurial is one of my favorites, but I also feel confident with any of the ones I have used in the past.
