Adracs USB Loader

This utility gives a solution to this problem, by checking which Serial port exists and set Adracs Remote Controlling S/W to use it to connect to the remote machine.

This is done by editing the Adracs Remote Controlling S/W Configuration File (INI file), after backing it up both in the Adracs USB Loader Configuration Folder and the Adracs Remote Controlling S/W Installation Folder, uppon first program execution

The Configuration Folder can be opened by pressing Ctrl-F12

Serial ports detection

Upon program start-up, existing COM ports are detected and a list is filled with their name. In case no port is detected (the USB to SERIAL converter is not connected yet), the program will not start Adracs Remote Controlling S/W.

When the USB to SERIAL converter is connected and the COM is active, the user has to rescan the system by clicking the button next to the list field, or wait for serial ports auto-detection (if no serial ports had been detected previously)

Installing device drivers for serial ports

When the USB to SERIAL converter is connected to a USB port that has never been connected to in the past, the system may require manual driver installation for this port.

If this is the case, the user has to click the button next to the field labeled Open Device Manager and navigate to Ports (COM and LPT). He has to right click on the new Serial port and select Update driver. Then he should let Windows search and install the driver automatically.

When this is done, a port rescan is necessary to use the port with Adracs Remote Controlling S/W.

Parameters

The program gets the following parameters

• Ardacs executable
  The full path to the executable (exe) file that starts Adracs Remote Controlling S/W. The value can be changed by clicking the button next to the edit field
  
  Preset value: C: \Program Files\Thales ATM\Adracs\adracs.exe

• Adracs config (ini) file
  The full path to the INI file (configuration file) that Adracs Remote Controlling S/W. The value can be changed by clicking the button next to the edit field
  
  Preset value: C: \Program Files\Thales ATM\Adracs\adracs.ini

• Port declaration line
  The line within the INI file (configuration file) that sets the COM to be used by Adracs Remote Controlling S/W.
  
  The line that sets the COM port is: ser_port=COM1. The value for this parameter is this line excluding the COM number
  
  Preset value: ser_port=COM

Executing Adracs

Adracs Remote Controlling S/W can be executed either manually or automatically.

Manual execution

Just click the button labeled Execute

Automatic execution

Automatic execution can be enabled by clicking the field labeled Auto-execute (seconds):

Then:

• The button labeled Execute gets disabled

• If auto-execution can be performed (all files exits and only one serial port is detected), a count-down timer starts. When it reaches zero, Adracs Remote Controlling S/W is executed and the utility terminates

• If auto-execution cannot be performed (some of the files do not exit or more than one serial port are detected), the count-down timer does not start. Manual execution is then mandatory
